Abstract:Formation mechanism and influence factors of corner transverse cracks at outer arc surface were investigated systematically in Shougang Jingtang United Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. The results show that the main cause for the occurrence of corner transverse cracks at outer arc surface is that the slab corner temperature at bending part is in the third brittle zone of steel, and at the same time the strain on the outer arc surface is over that slab can undertake. Countermeasures that increasing (or decreasing) corner temperature and controlling nitrogen content are carried out to optimize secondary cooling system, while insuring caser state and equipment accuracy, which decreased slab corner transverse cracks obviously.
