Abstract��Through the study on strength and plasticity of medium carbon MnV series non-quenched and tempered steel billet at different temperatures within the scope of 650-1 200 �棬 their changing rule and the best plastic zone temperature range were found. When temperature is below 800 �棬 billet percentage reduction of area is no more than 75%. While temperature rises above 850 �棬 percentage reduction of area is obviously improved. Especially when temperature is over 925 �棬 percentage reduction of area is more than 95%. According to this�� it is determined that the entry point temperature is over 925 �� and the exit point temperature is over 850 �棬 that the billet surface crack is reduced.
