Experimental study of water simulation on surface disturbance patterns in the mold of extra-thickness slab

Abstract:In order to research the extra-thickness slab mold of Wuhan Heavy Duty Machine Tool Group Corporation, the 1:1 scale of water mode and a kind of new lattice laser test system for surface disturbance are established to investigate the effects of casting speed and immersion depth on surface disturbance in the extra-thickness slab mold. The experimental results show that surface disturbance is to be exacerbated with the increasing of casting speed or the decreasing of immersion depth. At the meantime, it reveals that the casting speed has more obvious effects on the surface disturbance than the immersion depth. To optimize the technological parameter and control the quality of slabs, the casting speed and immersion depth should be 0.2 m/min and 200 mm respectively under current conditions.
