Abstract:The reason of net cracks occurred in round billet was analyzed without scratching of continuous casting crystallizer copper tube. These were because of uneven cooling of solidified shell making austenitic grain bulky, the enrichment of copper elements in the austenite grain boundary, and reducing the grain boundary binding force inducing intergranular crack, on the other hand, because of surface instability in pouring process, enrichment of protective slag in the austenite grain boundary, and the stress concentration point formatting the crack source. Ensuring the mould arc alignment, insertion depth of submerged entry nozzle, stable pouring liquid, suitable mould powder and other measures, the net cracks were disappeared.
