Abstract:Based on the specific parameters of the slab continuous casting machine, the three-dimensional (3D) thermal mechanical coupled finite element model was established, and the distribution of the temperature, distortion, equivalent stress and equivalent strain with the different water slot depths were derived. The simulated results show that with the increasing of the water slot depth, the temperature, thermal strain, plastic strain, and distortion of hot surface decreases, while the equivalent stress of hot surface increases. The water slot depth of the mold has a great influence on its thermal distortion, and maximum distortion of hot surface decreases about 0.05 mm, when the water slot depth increases with 4 mm.
