Study and application of the F-EMS position for the special steel bloom continuous casting

Abstract:The solidification and heat transfer model validated by pin shooting test was established to predict the temperature field and shell growth of the special steel bloom casting. Based on the model and plant trial, the relationship between the center solid fraction and the overall solidification ratio was analyzed. The solid fraction ranged from 0 to 0.2 was proposed as the F-EMS implemented positions for all steel grades, while the solidification ratio ranged from 0.6 to 0.8 only suitable for high carbon special steel.
