Abstract:The effect of reheating temperature on the structure and morphology of MnS+Al2O3 compound inclusions in wheel steel with high Sulphur content has been studied.Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) had been employed to investigate the microstructure and size of MnS+Al2O3 compound inclusions. The results showed that: when reheated at 1 300 ℃, compound structure of MnS-surrounding-Al2O3 was not significantly destroyed due to slight re-dissolution of sulfide. However, when the reheating temperature was raised up to 1 350 ℃, many oxide inclusions are directly exposed to the steel matrix because of obvious sulfide re-dissolution.Therefore, the hot working temperature should not be beyond 1 300 ℃ in order to reduce the influence of MnS re-dissolution on the surrounding effect of Mn Son Al2O3 in the sulfur containing wheel steels.
