Abstract:The service life of free roller of segment seriously affects the efficiency and slab quality of CCM. Frequent fracture of roller’s neck, leakage of water jacket, bearing housing damage and bearing stuck cause short service life of free roller, which is the main reason of short life and short replacement period of CCM segment. Appropriate solutions that improving the structure of free roller’s neck to reduce stress concentration, adopting integral core axis to avoid leakage of water jacket, choosing bearings with higher load capacity and optimizing bearing housing to increase sturdiness are proposed to improve strength of free roller. Through above measures, the service life of free roller and replacement period of segment increase greatly and the problem of frequent offline for segment is solved.
