Abstract:Cold heading steel wire rod 10B21 is easy to crack on the surface due to its large deformation. In order to improve the performance of 10B21 wire rod and reduce the probability of cracking during cold heading, the cracking specimens were observed and analyzed by means of metallographic examination, scanning electron microscope and energy spectrum analysis. The results show that decarburization exists on both sides of 10B21 cracking and the grain growth trend is obvious. Mainly due to the existence of linear defects on the surface of the raw material, and the defects around the normal organization, but also did not see large particles of inclusion, and put forward improvement measures.
