Abstract:12Cr1MoV tube billet steel is often used in boiler tube steel, and the surface crack phenomenon appears in the early stage of Laiwu steel special steel production department. Through metallurgical structure observation and SEM (scanning electron microscopy) analysis of crack defects on the rolled products surface, obvious decarburization phenomenon, inclusions and oxide round dots exist near the cracks. Multiple ferritic stripes are also found at the end of cracks. The results show that the defects on the casting billet are the main reasons which cause the surface crack of the billet 12Cr1MoV.
