Abstract:The peritectic reaction of iron-carbon alloy with the carbon content of 0.09%-0.53% is a very important phenomenon in the continuous casting process. It leads to cracking susceptibility of slab, longitudinal surface cracks and the longitudinal breakout. The relationship between the characteristics of the peritectic reaction of different steels and the sensitivity of the continuous casting slab to the crack was discussed.
