Abstract:The surface peeling defects of 10B21 boron-bearing cold heading steel wire were studied. The optical microscope and SEM were used to examine the morphology, structure, and composition of the cross-section ofdefects, and the gas content of the finished wire was examined by a nitrogen oxide analyzer. The formation mechanism of the defect is analyzed, it is considered that the defect is a wrinkle formed during the rolling of the corner cross crack on the continuous casting billet. By adjusting the charging structure of 10B21 boron-containing cold heading steel and strengthening the control of the production process, then controlling the nitrogen content in the steel, and the occurrence of warpage defects on the wire surface can be effectively avoided.
