Abstract:Based on the industrial nailing experiment, a coupled three-dimensional numerical model has been developed to describe the fluid flow, heat transfer and solidification of slab continuous casting process. According to the study results, when the casting speed is 1.1m·min-1 for a Q235B slab by LD-CC. A much strong impingement of the outlet flow on the shell has been observed, which easily leads to the quality defects or breakout accidents. The reliability of the model was verified by experimental results. The liquid core exhibits a "W" shape at the solidified end, which is related to the uneven distribution of heat dissipation in the mold.
