Abstract:Corner transverse cracks of HRB600 (E) steel slab with high strength threads produced by converter-refining-continuous casting (full water continuous casting machine) process are studied. The results show that the transverse corner cracks of HRB600 (E) billet are formed in the mould. It is concluded that the transverse corner cracks can be effectively solved by means of weak cooling, controlling casting speed, selecting reasonable flux and rational secondary cooling distribution ratio. After optimizing the process, the transverse corner cracks of the billet are basically eliminated, and there are no quality defects such as warping and scarring in the rolled products.
