Preliminary design of mold flux for MiDa ultra high speed casting

Abstract:With the gradual application of MiDa process in China,new requirements for mold flux are put forward for ultra-high speed billet. Based on the characteristics of MiDa process and products,and the characteristics of low melting temperature,low viscosity,low solidification temperature,high melting speed and high inclusion absorption rate required by high pulling speed mold powder,this paper preliminarily designs five groups of components of mold powder,entrusts mold powder manufacturers to carry out trial production,tests the physical and chemical properties of the trial products,puts forward the optimization direction,and determines the preliminary idea of protection slag for ultra high pulling speed billet mold.
