Abstract:In order to improve the compatibility of mold fluxes in the process of peritectic steels by CSP technology, according to the characteristics of CSP continuous casting process and the solidification characteristics of peritectic steels, the comprehensive properties of the mold fluxes were summarized. The mold flux No. 2 was obtained by optimizing the mold flux No. 1 of CSP continuous casting. The properties of melting, heat transfer, viscous flow and crystallization were characterized and evaluated by single and double hot thermocouple technology, high temperature rotating viscometer and scanning electron microscope. The results showed that the lubrication performance and heat control capacity of mold flux No. 2 were better than that of slag No. 1, which solved the contradiction between lubrication and heat transfer. Besides, the melting temperature of mold flux No. 2 was lower, the melting speed was faster, and the melting performance was better. Therefore, the comprehensive properties of mold flux No. 2 were excellent, which met the design and performance requirements of the production for peritectic steel by CSP technology.
