Abstract:To ensure the stable operation of continuous casting machine in 210 Converter Plant, the formation process and mechanism of steel bleeding in narrow face of two 2-strand slab continuous casters in 210 Converter Plant were studied in this article. Based on the analysis of the macroscopic morphology of different types of steel bleeding on the slab narrow face and the field observation of the whole process of formation, the reasons of 4 kinds of narrow face steel bleeding and 5 kinds of morphologies are judged and analyzed. According to the causes of these steel bleeding types, the corresponding process improvement measures are put forward, such as using silica gel or iron mud seal mould corner" meniscus when "high position packet changing" (SEN is inserted below the molten steel level to start pouring) or "low position packet changing" (SEN is higher than the molten steel level to start pouring) is adopted in the mold, optimizing the mould taper, strictly controlling the crystallizer vibration deviation, avoiding the slab narrow permeability steel surface defects. Through these technological improvements, the problem of steel bleeding on the narrow face of slab in 210 Converter Plant was obviously improved, and the occurrence rate of steel bleeding was reduced from 20.8% to less than 1.0%.
