Abstract Recent years, with the increasing of production ratio for high grade steel, too much tiny crack appears at the margin of the steel plate surface with high alloy content such as Nb, V and Al elements. The author have summarized the related experience and think the most important measures are slab cold delivers, strengthen the caster machine management, enhance the nitrogen control level, improve the steel pureness and take the appropriate second cooling curve.
