Abstract The effect of mold electromagnetic stirring ( M-EMS ) on Hangang eight machine eight strand billet caster are analyzed and studied, M-EMS can enhance the continuous casting billet surface quality and internal quality, improve the continuous casting slab center porosity, shrinkage and center segregation and reduce corner cracking breakout of billet; at the same time, in the process of M-EMS application, such problems will occur, molten steel superheat is exorbitant, electromagnetic stirring coil water leakage and worse immersed nozzle slag line, and corresponding improvement measures were put forward.
