Abstract The reason for the frequent stick by the increase of SEN wall-thickness in Jigang medium thick slab caster was analyzed. It is because of the flow field in the different distributions and dead zones around SEN which affect the heat transfer. And it was analyzed by numerical simulation and the program was proposed.
