Abstract After analyzing the surface cracks of 1Cr11MoV stainless steel continuous cast slab produced by TISCO 1 280 mm continuous casting, measures like controlling molten steel superheat, altering mold cooling strength, secondary cooling water, carbon content and fluxes were put forward so that the horizontal cracks were reduced significantly.
