Abstract To solve the problems of small quantities of orders, more specifications and varieties of miscellaneous which will affect cost and productivity, the new flexible technology for continuous casting was explored, that is"different sizes of the billet can be casted with the same tundish in the same casting". Under the condition of good quality and industry safety, the frequent startup and shutdown, the waste of head billet and tail billet, tundish refractories and casting accessories such as consumption were reduced, and at the same time, the labor intensity of worker were also decreased so that the production efficiency of steelmaking and CC was increased sufficiently and the working procedure cost was decreased.
