Abstract Abstract：More attention has been paid on the heavy plates with high value-added in modern continuous casting production. Comparing with ingot, continuous casting has the advantages of high efficiency production and saving energy, and hence more and more plants are planning to build or reconstruct continuous casting lines to produce heavy plates. In the present paper, the features, related technologies and industrial application in Xin Steel of the 420 mm slab casting designed independently by CISDI was described. The production practice indicated that this continuous casting line could meet the steel plant’s demand of high-quality heavy slab production.
