Abstract Considering the characteristics of FTSC thin-slab process and the performance of high-carbon steel such as its hot ductility, low superheat was used, the composition of cast flux was optimized and the secondary cooling intensity was strengthened during the CC technology design. With the new techniques the surface entrapped slag, lamination and inside cracks were controlled.
