Abstract The reason of edge crack defect of L245 pipeline steel hot-rolled coil is analyzed and high temperature thermoplastic behavior of this steel grade is studied. The character of steel grade is the fundamental reason for the edge crack defect of hot-rolled coil, but the defect could be reduced via proper process system.
