Abstract The casting roll life is an important impact factor for the production continuity of continuous casting. There are two kinds of typical structure of continuous casting segmented roller, one kind is each segmented roller as independent unit; the other kind is the core axis with sleeve. In this study, refered to the calculation method of the rolling force, the structural analysis and the force analysis of two different types roller have been made, then the structure modification has been carried out, in order to reduce manufacture and maintenance costs and improve the roll’s service life.
