Simulation of Solidification Microstructure of Continuous Casting Billet Under Electromagnetic Stirring |

Abstract Simulation of solidification process of continuous cast billet was carried out with a ProCAST software, the solidification structures of continuous casting billet were simulated by CAFE model of ProCAST, and the solidification microstructure of continuous casting billet with or without mold electromagnetic stirring were comparatively simulated. It was found that the columnar zone is remarkably reduced and the ratio of central equiaxed grain increases obviously with electromagnetic stirring. Simulation results were evaluated by comparison between continuous casting billet with and without mold electromagnetic stirring. It was proved that the simulation result was consistent with experiment result.
