Status and Developing Needs of Mould Fluxes for Continuous Casting in China |

Abstract Mould fluxes play an important role in production of defectless casting strands, ensuring the refinement of the constant speed and highly efficient continuous casting. Mould fluxes technologies have made great progress with the rapid development of steelmaking and continuous casting. Many studies have been done to deepen and systematic the function mechanism, performance control and the abilities of keeping the smooth running of continuous casting and improving the quality of casting strands. At present, the mould fluxes technology, on the whole, can satisfy the production requirements of continuous casting in China. However, there are still many works to do in increasing investment in research and development, and stabilizing the conditions of raw materials and production process, etc. The mould fluxes technologies, which include the match of the mould fluxes and the continuous casting process, basic researches, the development of kinds, production and market situation, selection of mould fluxes, etc, have been analyzed in this paper. Meanwhile, some thoughts about the further development of mould fluxes have been put forward.
