Analysis of surface slivers on cold rolled sheet for the second slab in first heat |

Abstract In order to study the causes of the sliver defects of cold rolled sheet corresponding to the second slab of the first heat, the product quality was tracked at the cold rolling process. The results show that two kinds of sliver morphology can be observed. In addition, the SEM (scanning electron microscope) combined with EDS (energy dispersive spectrum) analysis show that these two kinds of defects were caused by aluminum clusters and the mould powder inclusions, respectively.
