Abstract Theoretical analysis and field experiments of the effect of welding steel containing titanium on change of refractory material property in the continuous casting process were carried out. The results show that the nozzles(short for long nozzle and submerged nozzle) are easy to corrode by chemical reaction with titanium in molten steel. The service time of nozzle is increased to 4 hours by optimizing its physicochemical index. The property of mold flux is changed by chemical reaction with titanium, which causes the deterioration of using performance. The application effect of mold flux is improved by optimizing its components.
