Abstract As for the surface crack of 280 mm×320 mm on thick billet rolling bar, the crack on rolling bar was related to the slow cooling process of continuous casting billet through the investigation of the process and simulation analysis of phase change. By optimization of continuous casting slow cool process and adjusting of the composition of main elements in A29, the probability of the rolling material without crack was increased from 50.3% to 85.5%.
