Hot deformation behaviors and hot working map of 420MPa class hot rolled H-section steels for for Marine Engineering |

Abstract In accordance with 420MPa class hot rolled H-section steels, the isothermal single-pass compression tests for the steel were carried out under the different conditions in which temperature changes from 800 to 1100℃ and strain rate changes from 0.01 to 5s-1. According to the results from Gleeble3800 thermo-mechanical simulator, the accurate values of peak stress were obtained from the stress-strain curve.A hyperbolic sine equation and hot working maps were employed to describe the relationship between the peak stress and Ze-ner-Hollomon parameter. The evolution of thermal deformation microstructure during the process was observed.The results showed that dynamic recrystallization occurs mainly at the low strain rate of 0.01~1s-1, and the work hardening phenomenon occurs at the con-dition of 5S-1 due to the precipitation of the second phase particles, which presents dynamic recovery. From hot working drawings and deformed structures, the optimum hot working processes of the tested steel are as follows: Under 0.4 strain,the deformation tempera-ture is 1000~1080℃ with the strain rate of 0.01~0.5s-1; Under 0.6 strain,the temperature is 1000~1060℃ with the strain rate of 0.05~0.3s-1.That can provide reference for the limited load during the process of forming and for the choice of equipment.
