Abstract The sticking rate of SPA-H in a domestic steel plant is at a high level, which affects the quality of slab and production stability. In order to effectively control the sticking of SPA-H steel grades and further reduce the sticking rate of SPA-H, the factors affecting the sticking of SPA-H were analyzed statistically and comparatively. It was concluded that in addition to the mould powder, the process system, the operation difference of the team and the selection of the breakout preventing systems were also important factors affecting the sticking of SPA-H steel grades. By reducing the alkalinity to 1.35, melting point to about 50 ℃ and other mould powder performance adjustment, reducing the mold taper of 0.04%/m, improving the superheat of molten steel qualified rate, unsteady stage operation optimization and steel breakout preventing systems reform, SPA-H sticking rate from the initial more than 10% gradually reduced to less than 3%. The sticking rate of SPA-H is effectively reduced.
