Numerical Simulation of Electromagnetic Field and Fluid Flow in Slab Continuous Casting Mold with Electromagnetic Stirring
A three dimensional mathematical model for electromagnetic field and fluid flow in slab continuous casting mold with mold electromagnetic stirring(M-EMS) was built. Electromagnetic field and fluid flow with 2-pole pairs and 4-pole pairs have been studied using the SIMPLER algorithm. The results show that the distribution of magnetic flux density B and electromagnetic force F present a centrosymmetric property in the mold. F distributes circumferentially in the horizontal plane between each pairs of N pole and S pole at two sides of the mold. F is bigger at the broad face than that at the narrow face or the centre of slab. Compared with 4-pole pairs, higher B, F and velocities can be obtained in the molten steel with 2-pole pairs. There are four circumfluence regions in the longitudinal section near the strand wide surface without M-EMS, while two circumfluence regions on the left side almost vanish and two circumfluence regions on the right side become smaller with M-EMS.

Experimental Study on Meniscus Behavior in Partial-slit Type Round Billet Continuous Casting Mold
The meniscus behavior in partial-slit type round billet continuous casting mold under high frequency magnetic field was investigated using low melting alloy Sn-Pb-Bi instead of liquid steel. The effect of power, installation site of the induction coil and frequency of magnetic field on the meniscus behavior was studied on the base of meniscus shape, height and triple point position. Furthermore, model experiments with liquid steel were conducted to validate the reliability of the results obtained through the experiments using Sn-Pb-Bi. It is found that the meniscus behavior is influenced significantly by the power. The optimal installation site of the induction coil is located in the center of slit zone in the mold. The meniscus height is increased as the increase of frequency of magnetic field at the range of 20 kHz to 30 kHz. However, the rate of increase decreases when the frequency of magnetic field exceeds 30 kHz. At similar experimental circumstances, the profile of liquid steel meniscus coincides approximately with that of Sn-Pb-Bi which indicates that Sn-Pb-Bi can be used to simulate the meniscus behavior of liquid steel.

Numerical Simulation of Fluid Flow in Slab Mold under Electromagnetic Circumstances
Aiming at the 2150mm slab caster in a steel plant,numerical simulations and analysis concerning fluid flow and free surface wave process of liquid stee in mold under the static electromagnetic field were conducted by using the CFX,a commercial software package for fluid flow analysis,in which changes of molten steel flowing state in both environments(with EMBR and without EMBR) were investigated emphatically.Detailed predictions on the fluid flow in mold under electromagnetic circumstances.

Study on the Application of Dynamic Soft Reduction Technology for Bloom Caster
The dynamic soft reduction Process was applied to bloom continuous casting machine in Laigang`s steelworks plant . In order to get the best parameters and improve the effect, 45#steel with the dynamic soft reduction process was studied in metallurgy effect . Compared reduced samples with non-reduced samples in test of macro-structure and segregation, the best reduction parameters were got .The center segregation and center loosen were reduced , the quality of billets were improved .

Analysis for an Abnormal Transmutation of Slab
Abstract: This article analyzes an abnormal transmutation of slab during high casting speed. Based on the manufacturing and site condition, the mechanism of the abnormal transmutation of slab was discussed. The transmutation process simulating was done by finite element method. The process theory understanding and practice experience accumulating is necessary to prevent the same problem.

Analysis on Strength and Rigidity of Segments in Slab Caster
The article describes analysis on and calculations of the strength and rigidity of segments done with finite element method plus monolithic modeling of the segments according to their load conditions in a slab caster, meanwhile points out the effects of the hot strands on the deformation of segments during the production, thus providing significant basis for designing of the segments.

Effect of CC process on macro carbon segregation in Steel Bloom
Investigation shows that the main reason of macro carbon segregation in steel bloom is nonhomogeneous distribution of carbon during the solidification of bloom, and severity of nonhomogeneous distribution of carbon is proportion to the carbon content of steel. The standard deviation and range of carbon distribution in various steel grades were normalized the distribution of carbon segregation in 20CrMoH, then the data were analyzed in the same scale. In normal continuous casting, the following casting parameters can improve the carbon segregation of casting bloom, such as casting overheat at 15~25 ℃, the amount of secondary cooling water is 0.35L/kg, stirring torque of mold and final electromagnetic stirring are respectively 18 and 15cN•cm. The normalized standard deviation and range of carbon segregation decreased to below 0.015% and 0.025% after the best combination of parameters were used in production practice.
