Abstract��The exceeding defects were found by ultrasonic flaw detection in the production process of flange for wind-turbine generator. The chemical composition�� macroscopic examination and microstructure analysis of flange section were conducted. The reasons for internal defects formation were comprehensively analyzed. The material of this flange was Nb microalloying Q345E. The comprehensive inspection results indicated that the added ferroniobium was not completely dissolved during smelting process. Therefore�� the continuity of flange matrix was destroyed by the undissolved ferroniobium particles�� which caused stress concentration during the subsequent hot deformation process and finally resulted in the cracking.
