Abstract:Cracks and "pattern" defects on sawing surface of 2.25Cr-1Mo steel continuous casting round billet were studied and analyzed. It was found that these two defects belong to cleavage fracture. Based on the study of cleavage fracture mechanismand the actual situation,the measures to prevent cleavage fracture were put forward as follows:high temperature pitting of casting slab and decreasing cooling rate; stress relief annealing to realize atom rearrangement,promote dislocation action and eliminate dislocation aggregation.
