Abstract:The mechanical properties including young’s modulus,yield strength,strain hardening index and true stress-true strain curve of No.20 pipe steel were investigated using the micro-indentation testing method. The structure and working principleofthe self-made domestic micro-indentation testingmachine were introduced. The micro-indentation measure mentmethod,calculation method,the problems and solutions in the process of analysis method were described indetail. By comparing with the trues tress-true strain curves of tensile test,it was confirmed that the micro-indentation test results of No.20 pipeline steel were well consistent with the tensile test results during elastic and plastic deformation periods. The error during elastic-plastic transition section was also analyzed and discussed. Suggestions for optimizing the micro-indentation test of the transition section were putforward.
