Abstract:The defects were found at the end of 32Cr3Mo1V continuous casting round billet during sawing. The fracture morphology was analyzed by the scanning electron microscope, the microstructure was observed by the metallographic microscope. The hardness analysis was carried out with Brinell hardness tester. It was found that the reason for the sawing defects at the end of 32Cr3Mo1V continuous casting round billet was the incomplete annealing. There were many bainite structures. The larger structural stress produced stress concentration at the saw blade notch during sawing and blanking. The cracks were generated in pearlite. The gradual propagation of cracks caused the macroscopic cracking. By increasing the annealing temperature, prolonging the holding time, and increasing the heating and cooling platform, the problem could be solved.
