Abstract:Fuel assembly is an indispensable and important component in the reactor. The welding quality directly affects the service life of the component and the safe operation of the reactor. X-ray inspection is an effective approach to monitor the weld quality. According to the technical requirements of welding between outer casing and transition joint, the butt weld (argon arc welding) between outer casing and transition joint was selected as the research object. The relevant X-day digital imaging inspection method was established. Combined with visual appearance detection and metallographic internal structure detection, the image features of non-defect factors such as fish scale, welding nodules, different penetration thickness and gaps in X-day digital imaging were analyzed. The imaging interference of fish scale, welding nodules, different penetration thickness and gaps was eliminated. Meanwhile, the characteristics of actual defects such as air holes, incomplete penetration and air bulking were analyzed. The accurate evaluation of girth weld between outer casing and transition joint was realized.
