Discussion on commonly used inspection standards of nonmetallic inclusions in steel |

Abstract The commonly used standards for determination of non-metallic inclusions in steel in China were compared. The similarities and differences of detection methods in several determination standard were analyzed from the aspects of inclusion classification, sampling and rating principle, etc. The revision suggestions for GB/T 10561-2005 Steel-determination of content of nonmetallic inclusions-micrographic method using standard diagrams were proposed. The results showed that the revision of GB/T 10561-2005 Steel-determination of content of nonmetallic inclusions-micrographic method using standard diagrams should refer to the measurement method for non-metallic inclusions with different widths in the same inspection field according to ASTM E45-2018a Standard Test Methods for Determining the Inclusion Content of Steel. The majority principle should be adopted.
