Abstract The structure and function of the longrod extensometer in high temperature creep test were introduced. As the main part for deformation transmission, the extensometer rod will have certain deformation under the action of thermal stress and preload in the high temperature environment. According to the principle of thermal stress analysis, the deformation behavior of the extension rod was analyzed by the finite element software Abaqus to determine whether the longrod extensometer structure could meet the measurement requirements.
