The hot rolled wire of electromagnetic pure iron was observed at low magnification. The inclusions in wire were analyzed by high-magnification metallographic microscope, scanning electron microscope (SEM) and energy dispersive spectrum(EDS). The results showed that the inclusions in steel were single Al2O3 inclusion, which were mainly distributed in dot or line form in a quarter of cross section. Moreover, the inclusions were extended along the longitudinal direction of wire. Based on the source of inclusions in this steel, there were three key measures to reduce inclusions in production process were proposed.
