Current status and trend of TRIP automotive steels

    Abstract
  • The development status of transformation induced plasticity (TRIP) steel and its application in automotive industry were introduced. The mechanisms of TRIP effect and the influence factors of TRIP steel properties were emphatically discussed. Then two new processes of low temperature bainitic transformation and quenching-partitioning process were presented and the high speed tensile properties of TRIP steels by the two processes were compared. Finally, the research directions of TRIP steels for automotive application were prospected.
