Abstract:Resources and energy shortages, market declining profitability and ecological and environmental constraints have become three aspects of the pressures and challenges in China’s steel industry. Low-carbon and circular economic became the main trends in current social development, and iron and steel enterprises should upgrade to the direction of low-carbon and green steel production. This paper was based on the production survey in the first half of 2015 year in Shougang Jingtang Company. Energy consumption and CO2 emissions in the steel production process were calculated. The energy flow operation, waste treatment and energy conversion in iron and steel production process were analyzed. Also, references were provided for other steel companies to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, save energy and protect environment. Studies had shown that comprehensive energy consumption and CO2 emissions for per ton of steel were 604.5 kg and 2.165 t, respectively. Compared with Baosteel and Wuhan Iron and Steel with similar product structure, the energy level of Jingtang Steel located in the advance level. Based on the energy flow analysis of steel production, Shougang Jingtang Company used the CDQ, TRT and other advanced technology. The waste heat and energy recovery achieved 136.26 kg/t steel, and the recovery rate of waste heat and energy was 48.31%, which was 10.89% higher than the national average value. Based on the cycle thought, Shougang Jingtang Company established the efficient gas-electric energy conversion center and steam heat recycling center, and basically realized zero emissions and comprehensive utilization of coal gas, solid waste and water resources and discharged SO2, NO2 and other pollutants.
