Abstract:The microstructural and property stability of bainitic rails developed by Ansteel Company was comprehensively analyzed. Due to high residual stress after straightening, the fracture toughness, fatigue crack propagation rate and residual stress were investigated emphatically. The effect of residual stress of rails was inspected by service test. The research results show that the bainitic rails had stable microstructure and properties,with higher toughness and the abrasive and surface stripping resistance were higher compared with that of heat treatment pearlite rails.
