Abstract:Accelerating the research on lowcarbon transformation and development of iron and steel industry is an important way to implementing the global target on climate change and the construction of ecological civilization. The implementation path of low carbon transition in China's iron and steel industry is analyzed from three aspects: reducing demand,improving energy efficiency and innovating process. Based on the target of the global temperature control at 2 and 1.5 ℃,the contribution of different paths to emission reduction is forecasted. The results show that under the scenario of temperature control at 2 ℃,reducing demand,improving energy efficiency and innovating processes contribute 46%,21% and 33% of the emission reduction potential respectively;under the scenario of temperature control at 1.5 ℃,reducing demand,improving energy efficiency and innovating processes contribute 34%,16% and 50% of the emission reduction potential respectively. The realization of the global temperature control target will have a farreaching impact on the development of iron and steel industry. Further efforts should be made in terms of policy objectives,technological innovation,marketoriented mechanism,support system and development model.
