Abstract：The development of prediction of microstructure and properties of hot rolled steel products is described. The progress and the existing problems in this area are summarized. The key points to develop this technology are 1) to combine it with automation of rolling process to realize on line optimization and control of the parameters; 2) to develop new steels oriented to future requirements by means of this technique; 3) to perform the flexible rolling in the steel makingcontinuous castinghot rolling route.
