Numerical Simulation on SlagRemoving in Hot Metal Ladle

Abstract:The hot metal is charged into BOF with some slag increasing production cycle time and cost increment. Therefore, it is very important to remove the slag rich in sulfur before hot metal charging. A new type of lance was adopted in this experiment. The N2 is injected at high pressure to push the slag with reduced loss of hot metal. It was shown that the lance design, the submersion depth and angle of lance, the gas injection rate and pressure affect the result of slagremoving. The submersion depth of lance and gas consumption affect the results mostly.
