Abstract:Based on the mass and energy balance of gas and solid phases, a onedimensional model of Midrex reduction process was developed. The model was able to satisfactorily reproduce the data from Gilmore Steel Corporated. Calculated results showed that, the temperature difference between solid and gas phases is small in the most part of reduction section of Midrex shaft furnace. The reactions are exothermal in the upper part of 1.18 meter in depth. The performance of the reactor was also analyzed under different temperature of reduction gas,gas flow rate, size of iron ore pellet and productivity of the reactor.
