Abstract:Semi-solid rheological slurry of high-carbon steel was prepared by using electromagnetic stirring, then semi-solid forming. The evolution processes of the semi-solid microstructures of high carbon steel such as Cr5MoV, Cr12 and Cr12V during the electromagnetic stirring was studied. Test results show that dedendric primary austenite can be got during suit electromagnetic stirring. The longer electromagnetic stirring time, the more spherical or dedendritic the austenite formed. Solid particle clusters form during electromagnetic stirring in high solid fraction of semi-solid slurry. EBSD experiments indicate that these solid particle clusters are composed by different crystal plane primary austenite grain. During the electromagnetic stirring, the solid particles of primary austenite collide and segregate in some region.
